The measures listed in the chart above correspond to the body measurements only and don't include ease. As ease will vary from one style to another, please refer to the garment measurements chart of each pattern for the final measurements.
HOW TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS
High bust: wrap the measuring tape above the widest part of the chest, as close to the arms as possible.
Bust: wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the chest while taking a deep breath.
Waist: wrap the measuring tape around the narrowest part of the waist, slightly above the belly button.
High hips: wrap the measuring tape half-way between the widest part of the buttocks and the waist.
Hips: wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the buttocks, next to the wrists.
Biceps: wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the upper arm.
Thigh: wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the upper leg.
Torso: run the tape from the highest point of your shoulder, over the chest, through the legs and up the back to the starting point.
Sleeve: run the tape along the arm, from the nape (centre of the back neck) to the wrist. Be sure that your arm is slightly bent to allow for extra ease.
Inseam: run the tape measure along the inside of the leg, from the crotch to the floor.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
- Choose your size by comparing your body measurements with the BODY MEASUREMENTS table above, not according to the size you buy in stores.
- To choose a size, pick one with the closest measurements to yours. As a rule of thumb, top, dress or coat size is chosen according to your bust, and skirt or pant size according to your hips.
- If your measurements are in between two sizes, pick the larger one.
HOW TO ADD SIZES
If your measurements are not included in the chart above, add more sizes to the pattern by extending the grading nest. Download our tutorial on how to add sizes to a multi-size pattern here.
HEIGHT
Our patterns are drafted according to a height of 1m63 (5ft4). If needed, cut through the adjustment lines on the pattern to lengthen or shorten the garment. Download our tutorial on how to adapt a pattern to your height here.
BUST CUP
